Daryl Cromer is the VP of Global Innovation & Research and Chief Product Security Officer of Lenovo, leading the worldwide PC and Smart Device (PCSD) Group based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. He also serves as Chief Product Security Officer, responsible for PCSD’s security reviews and governance.

With over 25 years of experience in business management, research, technology development, and engineering, Daryl’s role has been pivotal in maintaining Lenovo’s market leadership by driving innovation and overseeing product security. He currently leads teams focused on generative AI spanning from devices to servers to the cloud, having developed products and solutions for AI workloads for years — focusing on AI-powered PCs, such as select Lenovo ThinkPad, ThinkStation, ThinkBook, Yoga, Legion and LOQ devices, to enable the transformative wave of generative AI for better everyday user experiences.

Daryl’s tenure at Lenovo began in 2005, holding various leadership roles, including VP of Subsystem Research R/T, Principal Technologist and Distinguished Engineer for ThinkPad, and VP of Enterprise BU Dev/Ops. Prior to Lenovo, Daryl had a significant tenure at IBM, starting his career in chip design and progressing through systems design, networking design, software design, and research, rising to the rank of Distinguished Engineer.

Daryl is a prolific inventor with over 400 granted US patents, reflecting his deep involvement in pioneering technology solutions. His work is centered around the ‘innovator’s dilemma,’ balancing new technology adoption with market readiness and customer needs.

Daryl holds an MS in Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
